Semiomantics is developing a new Concept for its Author Blog and Content Management System based on WordPress. The Goal is to provide Authors with a self publishing framework aiming for high visibility on Google. The second task is to earmark content with a digital footprint and to protect content from abuse or theft.

Authors are writers or producers of any media, be it images, podcast or video clips.

What is an Authors Blog and CMS

The purpose of the Authors Blog and CMS is to brand the Author and his work and to bring it in front of an interested audience. The Author site can be commercial or non-commercial.

The site must allow the author to organize and to classify his work according to his own preferences. This is a personal publication whereas the center is the Author rather than the keyword contextual content.

The site attaches the content and contextual keywords to the authors name with the purpose of expressing his or her authority in the contextual domain or field.

Author sites target direct Readers as well as Publishers or Customers who might be interested in the Author’s services and products.

Contrary to a newspaper like publication, the Author’s Publication expresses the unmodified content produced by the Author, whereas a third party publisher and customer of the Author may adapt the content to the needs, preferences and prerogatives of his own (commercial or non commercial) Publication.

Author Blogs are ideal media for Social Network Marketing and Publishing.

The look of the Author Blog and CMS is of paramount importance for branding purposes. We therefore are looking for a neural theme which can be highly customized to suit each Author’s preferences.

Author Blog and CMS Seminar by Ycademy

The Ycademy Online Seminar which takes place on August 29 and 30, 2009 will focus on the Author Blog and CMS release candidate during the first day. All participants will receive a copy of the release for testing and work-shops.

WP Shop Version 3 by Semiomantics

WordPress Ecommerce Shop development for our customers is an interesting task, as each product and each brand requires customized solutions. For this reason we are focusing on developing a basic Semiomantics WP Ecommerce based Shop solution which can be adapted to any WordPress Theme.

WordPress Shop Version 3 by Semiomantics

Version 3 is built on the recently presented Version 2; we keep the Ecommerce features in the framework, however on the main page we display the blog instead of a series of products in grid view.

The Sidebar of Version 3 above features a news alert sign up form (Feedburner) which can also be moved up into the header:

Shop features in the sidebar are a priority and placed on top, namely the shopping cart, top products as well as product categories and brands.

Semiomantics Shop on Google

The sub-domain Shop.Semiomantics.com has been set up just 3 days ago. It’s already indexed and properly listed by Google as you would expect from any Semiomantics Product.

WP Ecommerce Theme by Semiomantics

We are considering to release Semiomantics Shop Version 2 and or 3 as a WordPress Ecommerce Theme. Our prototype is running on WordPress 2.8.4 and on WP Ecommerce 3.7.1 with the Gold Cart and Membership licenses from Instinct.

The advantage of the Theme release: it replaces the need for an other WordPress Theme and it replaces partially the Gold Cart license as grid-view is built in for product category views and the product display on the home page.

A further advantage would be that we separate WP Ecommerce from the WordPress Theme and deal with it as what it is: a plug-in. By doing so, all style and layout options can be managed from the WordPress Theme style sheet and script, rather than modifying the WP-Ecommerce code which is not yet well documented.

Finally, we can make sure that Semiomantics Publishing Power and Quality do not contradict with the Shopping Cart configuration. The result will be visible on Google.

Such a Theme could be loaded to any WordPress site and run without Semiomantics Tuning of the WordPress core script, similar to the NewsCast Theme.
